Interim Director Children’s Services

I’m proud to be interim DCS at Newham, where we’re ambitious for each and every one of the borough’s children and young people. From early help, to education; from youth activities to parks and open spaces; from housing to acute support for the most vulnerable – we’re clear that nothing but the best is good enough for children and young people in Newham. We want to guarantee that the services and support we offer are best in class, and we want to work with people who share our commitment and our ambition.

Our Action Plan, developed following Ofsted’s inspection of Newham’s children’s services in early 2019, sets out how we are making improvements – both to address the issues and recommendations highlighted by Ofsted, and to bolster services for young people across the board – backed by robust political support and the greatest investment in a generation. At Newham, people are at the heart of everything we do, and we see safeguarding children, supporting our schools to strive for excellence, and improving opportunities for young people as everybody’s business.

We’re committed to our people, too. Working in our Children’s Services team is a chance to both make a difference, and to enhance your career. You’ll benefit from a supportive and caring working environment; professional support and challenge, and a raft of career development opportunities to help you meet your ambitions while helping children and young people to meet theirs.
